Snoop Dogg Progress

I'm pretty happy with Snoop so far! I still think the skin looks a bit too waxy and I need to figure out how to make a shader for the diamond. I'm also not super happy with how the hair looks but I think I'm gonna step back for a few days before I come back to it.

Snooooooooop!

Pretty much taken the sculpt as far as I'm going to. Time to finish textures and get it into Maya for some hair and rendering!

Snoop Dogg Progress

Here's some progress on Snoop. I did a retop and laid out UVs. The plan was to bring it into BodyPaint because I have a lot of pretty high-res photos of him but the different lighting in the pictures made huge differences in terms of color so I had to do a lot of hand painting. Also I'm gonna end up sculpting in the pore detail rather than trying to do it with a bump map. Anyway happy with my progress tonight... though he looks really weird without eyebrows and facial hair! More to come soon!

WIPout!

My texturing freelance has lightened up this past week and I've finally had time to work on some personal stuff. Here are a couple WIPs!

I started this Snoop Dogg for fun but now I'm eager to see it to completion. I'm currently retopologizing and gonna use textures to get all that pore detail. I'll probably give him some corn rows or braids and stick him in a pimp suit for the final render.

And this is the Superman I've been working on for a while now. It's really more of a refresher on sculpting anatomy, but I kind of like where it's going. My goal now is to create a 3D version of this digital painting I did while I was in school.

Updated BelAir Renders

Made a few textural changes and added some compositing tricks. See if you can spot the differences!

Finished Reel

It's been a long month or so of rendering but I finally finished my reel! Pretty happy with how it came out. Thanks to all who helped me with it!

Baby Steps

Working on little things while I render for my reel. It's taking... soooo... loooong...

I took some cues from the movie, but how can I not? More interior soon.

Mach 5 Progress

Had a little free time today so I modeled a little more detail into the body and did some quick textures. It isn't a whole lot different than last time but I'm having a good time. I'll be working the interior next.

Mach 5 Progress

After a couple of days of work on it I kind of had to put the Mach 5 on the backburner for a while to work on my reel and an art test but this is the progress I ended up making on it before I had to stop. I like it so far but... it looks so naked...

Speed Sculpts from Alex's class

Thought I had posted these already, but I guess not! Just a couple quick 2 hour sketches we did in class.

Wheelies

I decided to take a break from reel work this weekend and do some modeling/texturing for fun. I'm going to model the Mach 5 but I've spent the past day or so making some good looking wheels just to have as an asset for future cars I might make. I started by creating the basic rim and wheel shapes, laying out UVs and modeling the tire tread. I then used XNormal to make a bump map for the tread and found this great image online while searching for tire company logos that I used to make the bump map for the side of the tire. (Apparently it came from this tutorial originally) I made a color and spec map and then brought it into maya to tune the shader. I wanted the tires to have a glossy/freshly Armor All-ed look but it doesn't show up very well in this particular lighting setup.

So here's an American rim from the Bel Air

And my WIP Mach 5 Rim.

After I was happy with the tire I modeled some basic disc brakes. The geometry is very basic so most of the work as far as detail goes it just texture.

Pretty happy with how fast I was able to get through this and the direction it's heading. I'm basing my Mach 5 off of orthos I found of a 1975 Corvette and I should have some progress up here soon!

1956 Bel Air Update

Did a little more work on this, still a WIP but getting there!

Portfolio Class with Alex Alvarez: Project 5

Based on this concept by Dmitry Popov.

Overall pretty happy with how this came out though I have some things to fix, particularly the specular maps. I'll have it updated soon. Here's the untextured Model.

Portfolio Class with Alex Alvarez: Project 4

Based on this concept by Tham Hoi Mun

Did this character at game-res to meet the requirements of Mark DeDecker's Character for Games class as well. I had a great time sculpting in ZBrush, feels like I'm finally getting the hang of it. I'm pretty happy with how it came out and had a lot of fun both texturing and using Marmoset to render it.

Portfolio Class with Alex Alvarez: Project 3

Based on this concept by Sam Brown.

I had a lot of fun working on this one and I think it came out pretty well. Plan on adding a little more grunge to the textures.

Portfolio Class with Alex Alvarez: Project 2

Based on this concept by Dmitry Popov.

Here's a turntable I did for LookDev class with James Battersby.

Very happy overall with how this came out. Would like to do more texture work to the interior eventualy. Here's the untextured model.

Portfolio Class with Alex Alvarez: Project 1

Based on this concept by Ryan Wood.

Still a WIP. Having issues with the alpha sorting on the moustache and hair, might end up using cards instead of shave and a haircut.
